Date

Collaborated with Protect Our Children, a non-profit organization focused on preventing child sexual abuse, to support the design sprint for a new educational and prevention-focused toolkit. This toolkit was created as an interim resource to fill critical gaps in the organization’s outdated curriculum, with the goal of supporting both public users and practitioners.
The sprint focused on understanding user needs, aligning content with trauma-informed and accessible design principles, and rapidly prototyping a set of materials to educate, guide, and empower individuals working to prevent child sexual abuse.
Problem Statement
Partnered with Protect Our Children, a non-profit focused on child sexual abuse prevention, to contribute to the design sprint for a modern, inclusive educational toolkit.
The toolkit is intended to replace an outdated curriculum and will serve two key audiences: the general public (e.g., caregivers) and practitioners (e.g., educators, clinicians). My work focused on the early stages of this initiative, where I contributed to research, and led the design and development of the testing-phase prototype. I will continue to support the full design and development of the toolkit in upcoming phases.
My Role
- Sat in on three full days of research sessions to understand user needs across both audience types
- Led the design and development of the prototype testing presentation, including structure, layout, and visual direction
- Participated in the majority of testing sessions to observe user interaction with the material and identify areas for refinement
- Will continue supporting future design and development of the full toolkit based on testing insights
Key Objectives of the Presentation
- Clearly communicate the intent of the toolkit: building a culture of prevention, not just reaction
- Present early content strategies and layout concepts for both public and practitioner audiences
- Test tone, visual clarity, accessibility, and emotional impact
- Prompt feedback around usefulness, engagement, and perceived trustworthiness

Persona
A persona, Emily Carter, was created based on interview insights. Representing the group of users and their challanges.
What's Next
Feedback gathered during the presentation testing sessions will directly inform the ongoing design and development of the toolkit. As the project moves forward, I will continue to work on design and development, applying inclusive design practices and accessibility standards to ensure the resource is usable, trustworthy, and effective for all communities it serves.
